Gateway to the Midwest.
Bordered by the Mississippi River on the west, and just across the river from Missouri and Arkansas, Dyer County has easy access to 75% of the country's major markets. U.S. Highway 412 connects Dyer County to Interstate 40. A bridge along Interstate 155 runs over the Mississippi River, connecting Dyersburg to the Midwest.
Tennessee has named Dyer County a Three-Star Community 28 years in a row in recognition of its economic development preparedness. Dark fiber optic lines have been installed throughout the county to continue to help businesses thrive.
Dyersburg Municipal Airport has an excellent 5,000-foot runway and can even land large airplanes, including a DC9.
By Land
Located on the I-69 corridor, which connects Canada to the U.S. and Mexico, Dyer County is also served by I-55 and I-155, connecting with U.S. Highway 51 and U.S. Highway 412, which also joins to Interstate 40. State Highways 3, 20, 77, 78, 89, 103, 104, 105, 181, 182, 210 and 211 run throughout the county. Located on the main line of the Canadian National Railway, the county has direct connections to Canada and Nova Scotia. Illinois Central Railroad and TennKen Railroad Co. both serve Dyer County.
By Air
Dyer County has its own general aviation airport, the Dyersburg Municipal Airport, with 5,698-foot runway. The nearest commercial service airport is McKellar Sipes Regional Airport in Jackson, just 48 miles.
By Water
The Port of Cates Landing in Tiptonville, on the Mississippi River, is the nearest port, less than 40 miles away. The nation's newest multimodal port is a Foreign Trade Zone that allows shipments from the Gulf of Mexico and points north.
